Brief info
Roman Vassiliev was born in 1979 in Syktyvkar, where he studied dance at a private school between the ages of 8 and 10. He continued his studies at the Choreographic School in Perm for five years, and later at the Ballet School in Hamburg, Germany.
He participated in several international competitions, having received the 3rd Prize in the XXIV Lausanne Prize (Switzerland) and a scholarship to the Hamburg Ballet School, he was a finalist in the Perm International Competition (Russia) and received a 3rd Prize in the International Varna (Bulgaria).
He started as a professional at the Syktykvar Ballet and Opera Theater (1996-1997), where he danced the ballets “D. Quixote” (Basílio), “The Nutcracker” (The Prince), “Paquita”, “The Corsair” and “La Bayadère”. Then he was a soloist at the Leipzig Ballet (1998-2000), having interpreted works by Uwe Scholz (“América”, “Suite”, “Die Shopfung”, “Brandenburg” and “Sinfonia Clássica”) and by Jiri Kylián (“Symphony”). and “Symphony in D”).
He was also part of the Hannover Ballet (2000/2001) and the Royal Flanders Ballet (2001-2002), having danced respectively “Giselle” (Albrecht), “O Quebra-Nozes” (The Prince), “D. Quixote” (Basil and Sword), “In the Middle Somewhat Elevated” (William Forsythe), “Troy Game” (Robert North) and “Serenade” (George Balanchine) with the first company and “Twice 4” and “Lake of the Swans” with the second.
As a guest dancer he performed in companies such as; Royal Opera House, Bolshoi, Stuttgart Ballet, etc
As of 2003, he joined the cast of Companhia Nacional de Bailado, as a principal dancer, standing out in “A Dama das Camélias”, “O Quebra-Nozes”, “A Midsummer Night's Dream” and “O Lago dos Santos”. Swans”, and having participated in several International Galas organized on World Dance Day.
In 1997 Roman Vassiliev danced at a gala in Finland, alongside well-known artists such as Maya Plisetskaya, Nadezhda Pavlova and Patrick Dupond. In 2006 he danced as a guest artist at the National Ballet of Denver (USA) and, recently, he played the role of Príncipe in “O Quebra-Nozes”, leading the ballet group at the Porto Dance Center, where he maintains pedagogical activity.
After so many years experience,he moved to New York to give his contribution to art in the USA.
